one thing that wyatt's diagnosis has given me is a group of friends i would never have met otherwise! today was our "lunch bunch" day when i meet with a group of moms of younger kiddos who have Down syndrome! we are able to share with each other things that we cannot share with others! we can celebrate together as well as cry together! we rejoice together in the little things and encourage each other in the challenges we face.
i also have a HUGE group of online friends who are parents of kiddos with Ds. some of my closest friends now are ladies who i have never met in real life, but have developed a relationship with because we are connected with that "little something extra!" i have also been blessed to meet several of those cyber friends in real life as well!
God has given me many opportunities for ministry in an area that i never anticipated since wyatt's birth. i am blessed to be able to listen to those who hurting and pray for them. i am able to offer hope when a parent is faced with the unknown diagnosis of Down syndrome, or when they are anticipating open heart surgery for their child. i am able to pray for babies and children as they undergo surgeries, and for their parents as they wait. i am able to share from my two years of experience being a parent of a child with a special need, and i am so thankful for the many opportunities that God has given me to minister.....
Love this post!
